No, because it is an elected proceedure.

  • Fancy That:

if you meet the deduction requirements (7%? of income), any and all medical procedures are deductable.

Cosmetic surgery isn’t deductible. If the insurance wouldn’t cover it, neither will the IRS.

  • Anna P:

Only the sinus portion (be sure to be accurate). NOT all medical procedures are deductible!

  • Steve:

Cosmetic/reconstructive surgery can be deducted in limited cases. In your situation, the costs to correct a defect to allow you to breathe properly would be deductable. However, the portion of the surgery to improve the appearance of the nose would not be deductable.

No, it’s cosmetic – not medical

  • Judy:

If the medically necessary part of the procedure can be split out from the cosmetic part (ask your doc if he can do this) then the medically necessary part could be deducted if you meet the other rules to deduct medical expenses (you itemize, and deduct only the portion that’s over 7.5% of your income).

Cosmetic surgery is not deductible on your tax return.
